What's inside a matcha starter kit?
A good beginner kit is four pieces: bowl, whisk, scoop and whisk holder. A sifter and the matcha itself complete it. Every piece is also sold on its own at Matchiva.
Matcha Bowl
ChawanWide, flat-bottomed and glazed at high temperature by Turkish ceramic artists. The shape is what lets the whisk move freely.

Build this set →Why a Matchiva matcha kit?
A bowl made by hand, not by mould. Each chawan is thrown and glazed by Turkish ceramic artists and fired at high temperature with a food-safe glaze. No two bowls are identical; the glaze run and the texture differ on every piece.
A real whisk and real tea. The chasen is hand-split from a single piece of bamboo into 80 prongs; the matcha is first-harvest, shade-grown leaf from Kyoto, stone-ground. Nothing in the box is filler.
Cheaper than buying the pieces one by one. The discount grows with the tier, and the builder shows the individual total next to the set price at every step. Prices include VAT; there is nothing added at checkout but shipping, and that is free above the threshold.
It arrives in one piece. Every item sits in its own foam cut-out inside a rigid box. Orders leave within one business day with DHL; if anything arrives damaged, the replacement is on us.

A matcha gift set they will actually use
If you are looking for a matcha gift set, the Matcha Set tier is the complete answer: bowl, whisk, holder, scoop and 25 g of first-harvest matcha in the same box, so the person you give it to can brew their first bowl without buying anything else. The box itself is part of the presentation.
- Matchiva-designed rigid box, every piece in its own foam nest
- A welcome card and a step-by-step brewing guide inside
- Gift wrap option at checkout, with a 300-character note printed on a card
- The invoice is e-mailed to you as an e-archive document; no price inside the box
Your first bowl in two minutes
Four steps and twenty seconds of whisking. This is usucha, the everyday frothy style; koicha and lattes are covered in the Turkish brewing guide.
Sift
Sift two chashaku (about 2 g) of matcha into the bowl through the sifter so no clumps remain.
Water
Let boiled water rest for 2-3 minutes to about 75-80 °C, then pour 70-80 ml into the bowl.
Whisk
Whisk from the wrist in a quick W motion for 15-20 seconds. Do not stir in circles.
Finish
Break the large bubbles with the tip of the whisk, smooth the surface with one slow pass and drink straight away.
Matcha kit questions, answered
What is in a matcha starter kit?
A complete beginner kit has four parts: a matcha bowl (chawan), a bamboo whisk (chasen), a bamboo scoop (chashaku) and a whisk holder that keeps the prongs in shape while they dry. A fine sifter and the matcha itself complete the set. At Matchiva every piece is also sold on its own.
Which matcha set should a beginner buy?
Start with the Full Set: bowl + whisk + holder + scoop, everything a frothy bowl of usucha needs. If you want to brew the moment the box arrives, the Matcha Set adds 25 g of first-harvest Reserve Premium matcha. Already own a suitable bowl? The ready-made Matcha Starter Set (whisk + scoop + holder) is enough.
Do you ship outside Turkey?
Not yet. We ship to all 81 provinces of Turkey with DHL eCommerce; orders leave within one business day and usually arrive in 1-3 business days. Every set travels in a foam-nested rigid box, and a piece that arrives broken is replaced at our cost. For orders outside Turkey please e-mail info@matchiva.store and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Is the matcha ceremonial grade?
Reserve Premium Matcha (25 g) is our drinking-grade tea: first harvest, shade-grown and stone-ground in Kyoto, meant to be whisked with water alone. Ceremonial Premium Matcha (25 g) is the rounder blend we recommend for lattes and baking. Both can be added to any set in the third step of the set builder.
How is the price of a set calculated?
The set price is the current list price of the bowl and accessories you pick, minus a set discount that grows with the tier. The set builder shows the individual total, the set price and your saving at every step. All prices are in Turkish lira and include VAT.
Can I pay with my card? Is checkout in English?
Payment is by credit or debit card through Tami with 3D Secure; your bank may ask you to confirm by SMS. Checkout itself is in Turkish (the legally required language for the sales contract), but it is a single short form: name, address, card. If your card is refused, e-mail us and we will find a way.
Can I return a matcha set?
Under Turkish consumer law you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from delivery. Return shipping is paid by the customer for a change of mind and by us for a defective or damaged item; opened matcha powder cannot be returned, for food-hygiene reasons. The full policy is in the cancellation & returns section (Turkish).
How do I look after the bamboo whisk?
Rinse it in warm water without soap and let it dry on the ceramic holder so the prongs keep their curve. The prongs opening up slightly after the first few bowls is normal, not a defect. Keep the matcha itself sealed, cool and away from light.
